About
The Liver Life Walk is a signature event of the American Liver Foundation (ALF). Providing an inspirational and festive environment, Liver Life Walk events give participants an opportunity to come together and raise awareness and funds in support of the liver community.
Funds raised through the Liver Life Walk benefit the 100 million Americans affected by liver disease through resources, education and support services and help advance our advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and liver disease research. Together, we are moving closer to a world without liver disease.

Meet our Medical Chair of the inaugural Richmond Liver Life Walk, Joel Wedd M.D. As the Medical Director of Hume-Lee Liver Transplant at VCU Health, Dr. Wedd’s goal for patient care is to provide expertise in a way that shows friendliness and empathy while treating those with complex liver conditions. This compassionate care approach allows his patients’ best interests to be at the center of all his decisions while leading the liver transplant program at VCU Health. Dr. Wedd’s goal is to set up durable systems to enhance the program’s ability to offer a second chance at life through liver transplant. Dr. Wedd walks for the families impacted by liver disease and to raise awareness and access to care.
